Children or Family Photo Session

Photo Sessions:

What to Expect

A photo session will generally include photography movement and interaction of your family.

Once I begin shooting, there will be time for me to orchestrate the photo session by suggesting angles and body positioning while I adjust the lighting and camera vantage point.  Other times, I will simply photograph the movement and interactions occurring around me. I encourage family to simply be themselves.

During the session, I will create images of each child for singular images of that child and then I will photograph the children both informally interacting with each other and with each parent participating in the photo session.  I encourage my clients to share their creativity and input.  Please feel free to speak openly about your ideas or feelings prior to or during our time together.

I want the photo shoot to be a fun, memorable experience for you and your children.  I’m accustomed to working with all types of children and enjoy capturing their exuberance or shyness and even their stubbornness.  My goal during the session is to create images that reflect each child’s personality during this time in their life.

Helpful tips:

  • Consider polishing nails or leaving them neat and unpolished.
  • Dress in comfortable clothes.
  • I encourage wearing minimal make up, little or no jewelry and a natural hairstyle.
  • Focus specifically on simply being yourselves.  Be relaxed and comfortable in your home environment.  Allow the children to play and warm up to being photographed.  Some children are shy as they consider whether or not to participate in being photographed. There will time spent “warming up” to each other.  By the end of the photo session, typically, everyone is comfortable being photographed.
  • Prepare the child or children about being photographed. Let them know I’ll be visiting them in their home and have age appropriate conversation about being photographed.
  • Please have child or children being photographed fed prior to photo session and keep snacks available during the session.

I look forward to meeting you and creating images of this time in your life.
